Blondie
Blondie takes its name from the spiky, yellow-tinted tresses of lead singer Deborah Harry. For four years the group ruled New York’s tough teen-punk underground, with Harry – in tiger-striped miniskirts and leather leotards – as its pouty, gum-chewing moll. But her new image as a grown-up sex symbol, and the group’s tart, cynical hit “Heart of Glass,” which sold 1.6 million so far this year, have made Blondie the most commercial of the new groups.
