Blondie’s having fun
Deborah Harry (as she now prefers to be known) first burst into the charts more than 10 years ago, fronting her band, Blondie (see The ITV Chart Show, Saturday), and gathered a huge following with her individual style and songs such as Heart of Glass. Then, suddenly, she disappeared. Her long-term lover and fellow band member Chris Stein was taken seriously ill and Deborah put her career on hold for three years to nurse him back to health. Now she’s back, this time as a solo artist. Her album Def, Dumb and Blonde shows that the woman who taught Madonna everything she knows has still got what it takes.
