They were pioneers of the seventies and early eighties new wave music scene.

And Blondie’s Debbie Harry, 76, and Chris Stein, 71, proved they were still rocking as they headed out to visit artist Shepard Fairey’s Blondie mural on Monday.

The musical duo were seen in their hometown of New York City as they filmed for a new French documentary about fellow musician, Iggy Pop.

Underneath she layered a black hoodie with a grey motif and matching straight leg trousers with an ankle slit.

She added slip on trainers with a white platform sole and introduced a pop of colour with a cherry red leather shoulder bag.

Guitarist, Chris also stayed close to his punky roots as he donned a knitted sweater with rips and laddered detailing.

He added pocketed cargo trousers and a pair of practical charcoal Crocs whilst covering his face with blacked out cat-eye sunnies.

The pair could be seen as they posed in front of the Bleecker Street graffiti shrine which serves as a tribute to the now closed legendary venue, CBGB.

The New York City club yielded the rise of American punk rock music upon its opening in 1973 until its 2006 closure.

Blondie, who were set to tour the UK in November, have announced rescheduled dates for April 2022.

Debbie said that announcing the tour dates during a pandemic was a ‘sign of positive thinking’ as she also revealed that they have been working on new music.

The frontwoman added: ‘We have started working on new material but because of the prohibition we haven’t tried to get into the studio as a group. I think it is all theoretical actually.’

The band will perform across the UK in cities including Liverpool, Manchester, Hull, London, Glasgow and Nottingham.

Former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr, who also collaborated on Blondies most recent album, Pollinator, will make an appearance as the band special guest.
