Blondie’s Debbie Harry slams Trump and hopes for change after ‘terrible outcome’ of presidency
Blondie star Debbie Harry has opened up about her views on President Donald Trump following him being elected again, and defunding Planned Parenthood

Blondie icon Debbie Harry has hope for America despite President Donald Trump’s polarizing 2024 presidential win.
Since Trump has been back in office, he’s been cutting funding for many different organizations, including Planned Parenthood. Earlier this month, Planned Parenthood announced that the Trump administration would be slashing federal family funding, which will greatly impact birth control, cancer screenings, and other services for low-income people, The Guardian reported.
At the 2025 Planned Parenthood Gala in New York City on Thursday, Blondie’s lead singer spoke with the Mirror US about her view on the Commander-in-Chief defunding the non-profit. “If you ask me questions about Donald Trump, I don’t really approve of much of what he does,” Debbie said.
“I’ve always appreciated Planned Parenthood very much. I think that they’re very smart and doing the right thing for women. And when it comes to women, I feel very strongly that we have been kicked around for far too long, and this is a terrible outcome of his presidency, and I hope that somehow we can change all that,” she added.
According to The Guardian, Planned Parenthood reported that “nine of its affiliates received notice that funding would be withheld under a program known as Title X, which has supported healthcare services for the poor since 1970.” Politico shared that one of the impacted affiliates, Planned Parenthood of Great Northwest, Hawaii, Alaska, Kentucky, was operating 33 health centers spanning six states.
The aforementioned affiliate’s CEO, Rebecca Gibron, explained in an interview that “patients will suffer” if the funding isn’t allocated. “Cutting Title X funding for Planned Parenthood affiliates will only drive up people’s health care costs, or, frankly, prevent them from accessing health care at all,” she said, per Politico.
“They want to shut down Planned Parenthood health centers to appease their anti-abortion backers, and they’re willing to take away birth control, cancer screenings and STI testing and treatment to get their way,” Rebecca continued.
The Trump administration’s stance on Planned Parenthood doesn’t necessarily come as a shock since during the campaign trail, Trump’s then-Vice President pick, JD Vance, outlined what Trump would do about the organization if elected.
“On the question of defunding Planned Parenthood, look, I mean our view is we don’t think that taxpayers should fund late-term abortions,” Vance said per NBC News. “That has been a consistent view of the Trump campaign the first time around. It will remain a consistent view.”
