THERE IS NO greater dilemma for a wardrobe than this: what do you truly use as your daily bag? What will actually fit everything you need on the go? These age-old questions have haunted the average fashion enthusiast since ‘style‘ was even conceptualised.
Enter: Gucci’s Blondie shoulder bag, fittingly embodied in a new campaign starring none other than the lead singer of the iconic band Blondie, Debbie Harry. The Italian fashion house’s latest foray sees creative director Sabato De Sarno illuminate designs that are reminiscent of the brand’s flair from the 1970s. Echoing the liberated spirit of the decade, the bag features the new archival GG emblem over a suede Tuscan leather or canvas monogrammed body. All these quirks and materials were essential to the Gucci brand during the decade.

The Gucci Blondie bag first made its appearance at the recent Cruise 2025 runway show in London — bridging the past and present with its hard to miss emblematic logo. The house’s leather clad and enamelled versions of their iconic interlocking GG motif were signature to the craftsmanship of the jewellery in the 1970s. This iteration of the logo was symbolic of the brand’s founder himself, Guccio Gucci. Quickly becoming a signature of the House, it is now instantly recognisable, and another moment of revisiting what came before for the House of Gucci, to exploring what comes next.
The brand has long drawn from the 1970s, especially during the tenure of former creative director Alessandro Michele, when the designer sought inspiration from the likes of Italian horror classic Suspiria (1977), and the wide silhouettes and vintage prints that were plentiful at the time. Now, Sarno touches on the creativity and bold liberated spirit of the past with natural brown hues and vibrant colours, and bringing a more modern flair to the fashion house.

But what of functionality? No bag is worth its while if it isn’t versatile and wearable for any occasion. So, for those looking to embody the laid-back yet sophisticated style of the past, retrofitted for the modern wardrobe, look no further. The Blondie’s quality Italian leather and durable hardware make being stylish on a daily basis a near effortless task.
Match the affair with the bag, picking from petite mini sizes up to the largest maxi versions. They’re made to fit your everyday needs, with a body-friendly design — whether worn cross-body, over the shoulder, or in hand, the options are limitless to fit your mood and comfort.
