Glastonbury fans can’t believe Debbie Harry’s age as she smashes show alongside her band on Sunday afternoon (June 25).
Taking to the Pyramid Stage on the final day of the festival, American rock band Blondie performed to the huge crowd as part of the iconic legends slot. Lead singer Debbie Harry kicked off their energetic set with their smash hit One Way Or Another.
Harry looked brilliantly dressed in a black sequinned skirt and jacket paired with dark visor sunglasses. After playing Call Me, the frontwoman said the band had to get the “phone songs out of the way” at the beginning of their set.
Addressing the crowd, the 77-year-old rocker said: “Good afternoon, good evening, good day, good night.
“Hello, thank you, it’s very nice to be here, I hope you’re all having a lovely time. We had to get those phone songs out of the way because none of it is relevant today, we all have our phones in our pockets.”
Blondie continued to rattle through hits Will Anything Happen and Atomic, which ended with the guitarist playing his instrument behind his head.
Debbie Harry came to the edge of the stage to whip up the crowd further as they performed Rapture, which featured intense guitar riffs.
They later changed to a more joyful sound as they moved on to The Tide Is High.
The legendary performance was met with shock from viewers watching the performance on television, as they couldn’t believe how great Debbie looked as the superstar turns 78 next month.
Taking to Twitter one person wrote: “Fair play to Debbie Harry, rocking out Glastonbury at the age of 77!!”
A second said: “Debbie Harry has been the most beautiful woman in the world for most of my life. And that voice. What an icon. #blondie #glastonbury2023,” while a third chimed in with: “Debbie Harry smashing it….at age 77. Incredible. Just a number! #glastonbury2023.”
“Only just learning that Debbie Harry is 77. Looking incredible with Blondie at Glastonbury,” added another.
