SYNTH-POP PROJECT FOR DEXTER STAR

Dexter’s Michael C Hall has become a fully-fledged synth-pop star – and even Debbie Harry approves. The actor’s band Princess Goes To The Butterfly Museum includes Blondie keyboardist Matt Katz-Bohen and ex-Wallflowers/Morningwood drummer Peter Yanowitz, whom he first met when they were appearing in Hedwig And The Angry Inch on Broadway in 2014. As a result, Ms Harry has been known to join the band on stage. “She’s been to all but one, maybe two of our gigs,” reveals Hall. “Her singing with us hasn’t come up, but I would welcome the opportunity.” Yanowitz adds: “Debbie’s actually more of a roadie. She helps us with our stuff back home – she has this energy that gets us through.”

Katz-Bohen, who still plays with Blondie, told Paste: “She takes a perverse thrill, I think, in being our roadie and trying to lug our instruments around and put them in her car.”

Princess Goes To The Butterfly Museum’s latest single, Armageddon Suite, is out now.

THE YEAR AHEAD

BLONDIE

Back in 2019 Debbie Harry told Classic Pop that she and Chris Stein had begun writing material for a follow-up to Pollinator. After the duo’s In Conversation tour was postponed, work on new songs picked up pace and Blondie are in the throes of recording them with Grammy-winning producer John Congleton who oversaw the aforementioned 2017 LP. Unlike that collaborative collection, Harry has suggested more focused, poppy songwriting is on the menu and is so pleased with the results that they’ve announced a tour with Garbage for the winter.
