Blondie’s Debbie Harry sang a cover of Sonny & Cher’s “I Got You Babe” with protopunk “Handsome Dick” Manitoba at photographer Bob Gruen’s 70th birthday at East Village haunt 2A.
“Afterward, Debbie purred into the mike” — a la Marilyn Monroe — ‘Happy birthday, Bobby,’ a guest said.
Other performers included Jesse Malin as well as Jon Bon Jovi’s childhood pal (and Skid Row guitarist) Dave “The Snake” Sabo.
Gruen’s known for the famed 1974 portrait of John Lennon wearing a New York City T-shirt, as well as photos of the Clash, the Ramones and Led Zeppelin.
Also toasting: lawyer Paul Schindler and former Aerosmith and AC/DC manager Steve Leber.
