MUSIC SCENE
Presented by TVTimes Music Editor Martyn Button
Welcome to Music Scene, the section in which we take a wide-ranging look at the world of music. There’s something for all the family – a colour portrait, record reviews and a guide to what’s happening in music, from Debbie Harry to Dizzy Gillespie, with special reference to the music and musicians on your TV screens.
Dark Debbie
confirms Blondie’s future
DEBBIE HARRY, our Star of the Month, has her first solo album due into the shops next week – and now has her own natural brunette hair colour. But Blondie fans need have no fear about the band’s future. Debbie assured Music Scene that the band will not be splitting and that solo work will not interfere with the band’s future.
“We’ll have a new Blondie album out early next year, and my solo album is a project that I wanted to do with the guys who produced all those great Chic records.”
The album – KooKoo – was produced by disco kings Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers and 50 TVTimes readers can win signed copies of the record in the competition here.
To enter, simply tell us which record was Blondie’s first British number one. Was it (a) Sunday Girl, (b) Heart of Glass or (c) Dreaming?
Write your answer on a postcard and send it to Blondie Competition, TVTimes, P.O.Box 40, Market Harborough, Leics., LE16 9NJ to arrive no later than first post on July 24. The first 50 correct entries that are opened will receive a signed copy of the album KooKoo.
